Q: Is WOBBLELIGHT® weather proof?
A: No. While the WOBBLELIGHT® will work outdoors and can perform during inclement weather, it is not designed to be waterproof. It is recommended that a ground-fault interrupter (GFI) be used with WOBBLELIGHT® as an added safety measure when using it outdoors or where the potential exists for contact with moisture or standing water.
Q: Sometimes my metal halide WOBBLELIGHT® will not start. Why is this?
A: Metal halide bulbs are made with unique technology and need to warm up before they start and reach full brightness. In addition, they need to cool down for 15 minutes after they have been turned off before they can be switched on again. This is a known attribute of the metal halide bulb and is due to its internal chemistry.
After plugging the metal halide WOBBLELIGHT® units into a power source, wait a few moments for the capacitor to charge before switching on the unit.
Q: How many amps can the WOBBLELIGHT® accessory plug handle and how many WOBBLELIGHT®s can I string together in series?
A: Each WOBBLELIGHT® can accommodate a different number of amps at the accessory plug depending on the amp draw of each specific model. This affects what electrical devices can be plugged into WOBBLELIGHT®, including how many WOBBLELIGHT® units can be strung together. WOBBLELIGHT®s produced in 2008 and beyond are equipped with a 12-amp circuit breaker. Use the following guidelines for each model to determine the number of amps available at the accessory plug, and how many lights that you could string together on the same circuit:
WOBBLELIGHT® model |
Max amps on accessory outlet |
# of like units that may be connected in series |
| 120-watt Fluorescent |
10 A |
8 |
| 175-watt Metal Halide |
10 A |
7 |
| 400-watt Metal Halide |
7 A |
3 |
| 500-watt Halogen |
7 A |
2 |
High-amp devices such as circular saws should never be plugged into WOBBLELIGHT®.
Q: Can the WOBBLELIGHT® be serviced?
A: Your WOBBLELIGHT® is designed to last a very long time under rough conditions. However, a number of replacement parts are available. A repair center that does warranty and post-warranty repair may also be available in your area. Call 877-707-0800 for more information.
Q: Does the WOBBLELIGHT® use standard bulbs that can be bought anywhere, or do I have to buy special bulbs from WOBBLELIGHT®?
A: The 175, 250 and 400-watt Metal Halide WOBBLELIGHT®s use standard M59 mogul base metal halide bulbs of the appropriate wattage and either type ET18 or BT28 for use in upright or universal burn position. These replacement bulbs are available from WOBBLELIGHT® or from other sources.
The 85-watt Fluorescent, 120-watt Fluorescent & 500-watt Halogen models use special proprietary bulbs.
The fluorescent bulb is spiraled to increase the amount light output, has a unique inner reflector to increase light output and comes with a special set of silicone bumpers to prevent damage.
The halogen bulb is a proprietary double envelope design that increases the durability and allows the end user to handle the bulb without worrying about depositing dirt and oils onto the quartz tube. Dirt and oil deposits can cause standard halogen bulbs to burn out prematurely.
